Makeup Expiration Guide

Now is a good time to go through your old makeup bag and use this guide to see which products you should keep or toss and buy some more.

Always remember to check the labels on the product as each individual item may vary.

Mascara – Lasts up to 3 months before the wand starts to get icky and loaded with all sorts of bacteria.

Liquid Eyeliner – Similar as mascara after around 6 months toss as you don’t want an eye infection ruining your date night.

Liquid Foundation – Oils begin to separate and dry out after around 6-12 months depending on usage and where it’s being stored. Cool dark dry places are best.

Lipstick – Lipstick and lip gloss have an average shelf life f up to a year, before you want to get rid of to not get an infection on your beautiful lips.

Liquid Concealer – If kept in a cool dark place and stored tightly, your concealer can last up to a year.

Nail Polish – Starts to evaporate and thicken once opened. Try using a nail lacquer thinner to keep for up to 24 months,.

Powder Foundations – Have a long shelf life of around 24 months if stored in a cool dark place.

Hairspray, Perfumes – Can last 3 or more years if there aren’t any leaks or rotten smells when using. Just make sure it is store air-tight.
